Aparna Sen is a very legendary name in the Indian and Bengali film world. She is an actress and director as well as a dramatist. He continues to develop his prodigious talent in all fields like directing theater and cinema. As a result, the Bengali film industry is becoming increasingly prosperous.
Childhood and family life
Aparna Sen was born on 25th October 1945 in Kolkata, West Bengal. His father was film critic and filmmaker Chidananda Dasgupta. Her mother Supriya Dasgupta was the younger sister of the famous Bengali poet Jeebananda Das. Aparna Sen spent her childhood in Hazaribagh and Kolkata.
She studied at Modern High School for Girls, Kolkata. He attended Calcutta’s famous Presidency College with Honors in English though he did not take a degree. Aparna Sen later married Sanjay Sen with two daughters Kamalini and Kankana and son-in-law Ranveer Shure [Kankan’s husband].
Aparna Sen made her acting career in 1961 by acting in the movie ‘Tin Kanya’. After that, in 1969, he showed his acting skills in the movie ‘Aprichit’. After that, she acted in the movie ‘Aranya’s Din Ratri’ and established herself as a leading actress in the world of Bengali cinema. After that he gave us several beautiful movies one by one like ‘Ekhni’, ‘Jiwan Saiket’, ‘Jan Aranya’, ‘Unineshe April’, ‘Antheen’.
Apart from acting in films, Aparna Sen became interested in directing films from 1981 onwards. The first movie he directed was ’36 Chowrangi Lane’. He won the National Award for Best Director for this movie. After that, he directed several movies with great success, including ‘Parma’, ‘Sati’, ‘Parmatar Ek Din’, ‘Mr and Mrs Lawyer’, ’15 Park Avenue’ etc. He won the National Award for Best Director for the second time for ‘Mr and Mrs Lawyer’.

Aparna Sen received the Padma Shri award in 1987. In 1970, she won the BFA Award for Best Actress for ‘The Stranger’. Then she got the best actress award for ‘Sujatha’ in 1975, ‘Ekanta Apan’ in 1988, ‘Shwet Pather Thala’ in 1993, and ‘Parmitar Ekdan’ in 2001. She also won the Best Supporting Actress award in 1992 and 1997 for ‘Mahaprithibi’ and ‘Abhishapta Prem’. Then in 2013, he was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award. In 2002, he received the Anandalok Award for Best Naming. In 1993, she was honored with Kalakar Award as the best actress on stage.
