Debashree Roy is a successful and national award winning actress of Bengali film industry. Currently he is a winning MLA and philanthropist for Trinamool Dal. He has acted in over a hundred Bengali films and has a total of 40 awards including national awards.

Debashree Roy Childhood

Debashree Roy was born on 8th August 1961 in a middle class family in West Bengal. His nickname is Chumki. He has been acting in films since childhood. She acted in the movie Pagal Tagore when she was five years old as Kumari Chumki. At the age of 9, he acted in the film Balak Gadadhar. At the same age, he acted in famous director Tarun Majumdar’s film Kuheli.

Currently he runs a dance company called Nataraj.

Originally, he entered the world of cinema by taking the hand of Tarun Majumdar. He acted in various films including Tarun Majumder’s Dadar Keerti as a savant. She played the role of Satyavati in the serial Mahabharata, which created history in the world of Indian television. Satyavati was the mother of Bhishma and the son of Shantunu.

He made his first lead role in Bengali cinema opposite Mithun Chakraborty in Nadi To Sagare. Then his pairing with Prasenjit became popular. Her flamboyant performance in Rituparna Ghosh’s Nainesh April won her the President’s Award. After that, he teamed up with two of Bengal’s best actors Prasenjit and Chiranjit and acted in many Bengali films.

The song ‘Ami Calcutar Rasgolla’ in the movie Raktalekha is equally popular even today. Apart from this, the songs like ‘Ari Kata Raat Eka Thakab’ and ‘Bristhi Anasrshithi’ brought him to the peak of popularity.

He also runs a philanthropic organization called Debashree Roy Foundation whose main objective is to serve stray dogs. The main aim of this organization is to serve street dogs and other animals that are dying or suffering from neglect.
